The Chappie James Museum and Flight Academy will host a Fundraising Gala on Saturday February 9th 2019. Tickets will be 50.00 per person. Mr. Claude James, son of General Chappie James will be the keynote speaker. We will provide more information about this event and how you can purchase tickets soon.
The Chappie James flight Academy will partner with our friends at the EAA chapter 485 and participate in the AOPA regional fly-in at Jack Edwards Airport on Oct 26 and 27th. We will man a informational booth alongside our friends at the EAA and hand out brochures and informational materials to over 400 people anticipated at this event. Starting on September 29th we will host a 6 week aviation class for boys and girls ages 11-18. These classes will be held every Saturday through mid November. Classes are free of charge. Ret LCDR Robert Tiny Helms and staff member Miles Wright will teach aviation basics, African American aviation history, introduce several aviation programs available locally and nationally. There will be simulator training concentrating on aircraft instruments, straight and level flight and landings. If you are interested in this series we only have 10 slots available. We will host a public seminar and discussion on the Life of General Daniel Chappie James and his connection to the Tuskegee Airmen. Please continue to visit the site for Date and times. If interested please email us at email@example.com.
We will offer a one month course on Aerodynamics on Saturdays starting August 4th. The pre requisite to this course is to be a graduate of the summer program and to have registered in the sporty’s ground school course online. Students should have received a logbook at graduation with a code and instructions to register for the course. We encourage students to start that course before attending the August class. The Inaugural Class of 2018 starts Monday June 11th. This class is the first class to occupy the brand new facility. The Ribbon cutting was held on June 7th 2018. Mayor Ashton Hayward was on hand for the festivities. Mrs Dana James flew in from Los Angeles California to help us celebrate. She is the daughter in law of General Daniel Chappie James Jr.

Ferguson Airport will host a open house Saturday May 20th 9am - 4pm. Helicopter rides and airplane rides!!! There will be food and many activities for the kids to enjoy.
